🍎 Teachers’ guide

How to use pippo.app well in your lessons. Manage classes, add dictations, follow progress.

pippo.app helps you support spelling. Pupils listen to sentences and write them on paper. The app follows their progress and motivates them with stars. As a teacher, you can create classes, create or add dictations for your classes and keep an eye on how all your pupils are doing.

Important: Pupils write on paper, not on the screen. The app is there to read aloud, follow progress and motivate.

Tips from the classroom
⏰

A fixed dictation time

Set a fixed time each week (e.g. Tuesday and Thursday). A routine helps pupils get ready for it.

🏆

Class star challenge

Collect the class’s stars on a board. That motivates and builds team spirit, without singling out individual pupils.

📋

Your own dictations for spelling words

Create dictations with this week’s spelling words. That way you link what you teach directly with practice at home.

Frequently asked questions

Is pippo.app really free for teachers?

Yes, completely free. No hidden costs, no ads, no subscriptions. All features can be used in full.

How many classes can I create?

You can create and manage several classes. Each class has its own invitation code.

Do pupils need their own account?

Parents create the accounts. A parent signs up for free, adds the child and enters your class’s invitation code. You then see the request on the class page and add the child to the class with “Accept”.

I create lots of dictations in the summer. How do I keep the class list tidy?

Add what you are working on right now and move finished dictations to the archive: tap “Select” above the list, tick the dictations, “Move to archive”. They disappear from the class list and are kept below it under “Archive”, where you can bring them back with “Back on the list”. Each class has its own dictations: what you archive or change in a parallel class stays as it is in the other.

Can I create my own dictations?

Yes! You can create dictations with your own text. They can be tailored to your class and are read aloud automatically.

Do parents see the results?

Parents see their own child’s results in the parents’ dashboard. As a teacher, you see the results of all pupils in your class.

Does Pippo work on tablets?

Yes, the app runs on any device with a browser – computer, tablet and smartphone. A tablet or computer works best, with paper next to it for writing.
